Double Puffins 1994 (Alaska/ Siberia)
In 1994, Arnold Wechsler began his World Tour by going South to the Baha of Mexico to a Wechsler family wedding and then traveled
to Alaska, then crossing the Bering Strait in order to arrive in Russia. Arnold was inspired by his 1992 project "Columbus reverse clock" and wanted to arrive in Russia/ Siberia from the East. On his way to Siberia he began sketching what was around him, the puffins in Alaska. After his travels around Russia, Arnold returned back to his studio where he created huge paintings that decpicted his journey across Russia and Eastern Europe. He depicted the Puffins of Alaska which were similar to the abstract mythological figures he created after his travels around Central America.
