Arnold traveled throughout Mexico and even to the southern Mexican state called Chiapas. There he was inspired by the cave paintings and Rock Art he was seeing on his journey. He wanted to recreate what he was seeing in a modern fashion. Additonally, he was using the symbol of the Mayan spiral motfis in his work. In all of Arnold's mexican patterns, he used a colorful palette.
