Flowers (1994/5)

Arnold's flower series were inspired by Andy Warhol's 48 inch square canvas depicting flowers in 1964. His first series of flowers was a composition that took over the whole rectangle background. The Flower Series #2 in 1995 began to look more similar to Andy Warhol's flowers and so Arnold finally admited that Warhol inspired his series. Arnold would depict four flower outlines on a square and then would draw the flowers four times on top of each other. By drawing the flowers on top of eachother he was able to to develop the form. The first four flower outlines were done with stencils and then would be rotated 90 degrees, but the stencil would be kept in place.
