Kokopelli
In 2001, Arnold showed his Kokopelli series at Gallery X in Harlem. Arnold depicted Kokopelli which is Hopi mythical spirit that is associated with healing and life. He used his knowledge on folklore in order to create imaginary landscapes that depicted shadows and dreams in which he would include the Kokopelli. Arnold created elaborate assortments of dots which depicted a combination of archaelogical site maps, Byzantine mosaics and Hopi textiles. He used the dots to connect the Natural History and Ancient Cultures.
Arnold would paint sequences of dots that would go from red, to yellow, and then blue. He chose this color sequence because it connected to his travels around New Mexico and Arizonia. It was connected to natural pigments and stones associated with the Native American culture
